Fire Emblem is well-known for its many support conversations between characters in the franchise. Some of the support conversations can lead to further character depth that wouldn't be given in the games' main storylines otherwise, as well as leading to potential paired endings between characters (often involving those characters marrying each other).

However, there are some supports that fans found horrible, and also potentially controversial. From Soleil's relationship with her mother to Tethys crossing Artur's boundaries, fans were horrified and concerned about these specific supports.

10 Fans Were Irked At Ingrid Breaking Into Bernadetta's Room (Fire Emblem: Three Houses)

Ingrid and Bernadetta's C-rank cross-house support conversation in Three Houses revolves around Bernadetta avoiding training, partly due to her being so socially anxious. Ingrid's response, much to the ire of some fans, was to break down Bernadetta's door and force her to come to practice.

Fans and players alike were quick to point out how bad that strategy was to get Bernadetta to join the practice, considering her social anxiety. Thankfully for some fans, Ingrid did apologize to Bernadetta for her actions in their next support conversation, making the support friendlier between them.

9 Calill And Nephenee's Support Conversations Reeked Of Classism To Fans (Fire Emblem: Path Of Radiance)

Calill and Nephenee Fire Emblem

In Path Of Radiance, many fans disliked Calill and Nephenee's support conversations throughout the game. This is because all of their conversations consist of Calill bullying Nephenee over their class differences. Calill even goes as far as constantly correcting Nephenee's speech and mannerisms, even when Nephenee didn't ask for such advice.

Even worse is that Calill does not really apologize for these actions, unlike how Ingrid did with Bernadetta. Fans felt that the support conversations did little to help Calill or Nephenee's development overall.

8 Azama And Hinoka's Supports Showed Off A Horrible Relationship To Fans (Fire Emblem: Fates)

Azama Hinoka Fire Emblem

Despite Azama being Hinoka's retainer, Azama is extremely rude to Hinoka throughout all of their supports. Azama even goes as far as almost completely refusing to try to save a soldier's life during one of their supports, despite Hinoka ordering Azama to do so. The fact that Azama blatantly almost disobeyed Hinoka's order to try to save a life frustrated many gamers.

Many fans were shocked by the horrible interactions within the relationship overall and also disliked Azama heavily due to this specific support.

7 Fans Were Annoyed With Rutger Constantly Trying To Kill Dieck (Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade)

Rutger and Dieck Fire Emblem

Fans found the support conversations between Rutger and Dieck to be terrible overall in The Binding Blade. This is because Rutger constantly tries to kill Dieck during their first two support conversations together. It's common for characters to initially not get along throughout the series, but Rutger trying to straight-up kill a supposed ally of his at the time incensed many fans.

Additionally, Rutger is only trying to kill Dieck simply for revenge over Dieck killing his target first. Fans felt that this was a flimsy justification for these attempted assassinations.

6 Fans Were Unhappy With Jakob And Felicia's Unsupportive Support Conversations (Fire Emblem: Fates)

Jakob Felicia Fire Emblem

Many fans were unhappy with Jakob and Felicia's support conversations in Fates, as well as their S support conversation. This is because all of the support conversations involve Jakob constantly criticizing Felicia's clumsiness as a maid with little patience for her trying to improve her skills.

Some fans were further incensed when, in their S support, both of them decided to get married. Several fans feared that the marriage would become a toxic relationship as soon as it began, and so many players did their best to avoid pairing Jakob and Felicia together when playing Fates.

5 Fans Grew Concerned About Tethys Constantly Crossing Artur's Boundaries (Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones)

Artur Tethys Fire Emblem

In The Sacred Stones, Artur and Tethys' support conversations revolve around Tethys often flirting with Artur. Even though many support conversations can have flirty characters, Artur is a monk who's sworn to his duties and expresses his discomfort with Tethys' flirting during all of them.

Fans were put off by Tethys constantly crossing Artur's boundaries despite Artur telling Tethys to stop doing this, and so swore to avoid giving those two characters opportunities to have support conversations when playing the game.

4 Fans Were Horrified At Soleil And Ophelia's Support Conversations (Fire Emblem: Fates)

Soleil Ophelia Fire Emblem

Fans were horrified by Soleil and Ophelia's support conversations. This is because Soleil consistently harasses Ophelia for most of their conversations throughout the game despite Ophelia telling her to stop. Thankfully for some fans, Soleil did apologize for her behavior by their third support conversation.

However, others think that Soleil should have stopped and apologized much sooner than the third conversation.

3 Fans Were Horrified At Vaida Eating Canas' Book (Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade)

Canas and Vaida Fire Emblem

Not only did Vaida and Canas' supports come off as strange to some fans, but fans were further horrified at how often Vaida insulted Canas and harassed him. Additionally, in their B-rank support conversation, Vaida goes as far as eating one of Canas' beloved books while harassing him.

Players were incensed that Vaida would eat someone else's property, while book-loving fans grieved at the loss of Canas' book. Either way, none of the fans were happy with these support conversations.

2 Nah And Inigo's Support Did Not Give Grounds For A Great Marriage (Fire Emblem: Awakening)

Nah and Inigo Fire Emblem

Nah and Inigo's support conversations did not amuse fans in Awakening. Nah virtually forces Inigo to eventually marry her. She also harasses him constantly, despite Inigo never wanting such relations with her in the first place.

Meanwhile, Inigo expresses little-to-no attraction towards Nah in their supports at all in return and even tries to get Nah to stop pursuing him. Fans were enraged when the two ended up getting married in their S-rank support.

1 Soleil's Support With Corrin As Her Mom Felt Far From Wholesome (Fire Emblem: Fates)

Soleil and Female Corrin Fire Emblem

In Fire Emblem: Fates, it's possible that Corrin can become Soleil's mother. Fans expected support conversations between them to be fairly wholesome considering such a relationship between them.

However, they were horrified to find out that Soleil's admiration of Corrin throughout their support conversations felt more like someone trying to woo the other rather than their daughter trying to support their mother.
